SUMMARY:Cosmetics Europe Long Range Science Strategy (LRSS) Workshop 2: “Informing and supporting mechanisms for cosmetic chemical space – Driving clarity on needs for new approaches to safety assessment”\, 02/03-06-2015
DESCRIPTION:The second LRSS workshop has taken place on 2 and 3 June in the Cosmetics Europe offices with the attendance of 31 participants from the member companies\, academia\, research institutes and CROs. The aim of the workshop was to define the individual work packages for the first part of the Long Range Science Strategy (LRSS) Research Programme and to serve as a basis for the third 2015 workshop. \nThe focus of this workshop was on how to apply the cheminformatics and the in vitro mechanistic tools in the context of safety assessment\, characterisation of uncertainty associated to the tools and gaps in terms of cheminformatic tools\, in vitro assays\, bioinformatics infrastructure and modelling tools. During the second day the participants discussed the development\, validation and use of pathway/ AOP based approaches for testing & safety assessment. Finally\, the participants performed case studies to demonstrate the use of currently available tools for safety assessments. \n
